These images are collected from a series of nude photography magazines printed in Hamburg, West Germany, in the early 1960s.
As you can probably see, despite the obvious care taken with the photo compositions themselves, they were printed as cheaply as possible. Many such magazines were printed on paper a small grade above newsprint - there are some exceptions to this, but the goal was largely about volume. The original prints are thought to be lost.
They've got an interesting sort of high-contrast, dramatic & almost noir feel, quite different from the cheery cheesecake-style pinups of the USA & UK that dominated the market in the same period.
